1997-Present
Smith & Vansant Archtitects have been working with the Assistant Judges of Windsor County for the past ten years to address code compliance, space needs, and historic preservation at the Windsor County Superior Courthouse. Located on the Green in Woodstock, Vermont, this prominent historic building has played a vital role in the life of the Town and the County since it was constructed in 1853. We have studied various design scenarios for the renovation/rehabilitation of the original structure and an addition to provide an accessible entry, elevator, stair, jury space, a new Courtroom, and office space. The historic significance of the building, the small site and immediate proximity of the Norman Williams Public Library, and the need for County-wide support for funding have all contributed to the slow pace of the project. The next phase of design will start in the spring of 2007.
